Mental Health
Care
According to the 2024 Point-in-Time Count, 24% of unhoused Angelenos are living with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression. Homelessness itself is a traumatic experience. Recognizing the link between homelessness and mental illness, The People Concern integrates mental health care throughout our programs – from outreach to housing. Using a trauma-informed approach, we focus on how past trauma affects program participants’ experiences and healing, utilizing diverse mental health strategies.

We specialize in providing “whatever it takes” care to our most vulnerable community members currently or previously experiencing homelessness. Our Full Service Partnership (FSP) team partners with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) to provide mental health services to adults with severe mental illness regardless of their housing status. Additionally, our Housing Supported Services Program (HSSP), in partnership with DMH, offers wraparound supportive services for newly housed individuals requiring additional mental health support.
